Residential solar

Home solar, planned around your home.

Understand your rooftop, your electricity use and your backup needs before choosing a solar system.

Generation and backup are different decisions.Make both part of the conversation from the start.

Choose how your system will operate

Three approaches.
One household requirement.

Powermatics India’s residential solar service covers grid-tied, hybrid and off-grid options. The starting point is how you want the home to use electricity—not a standard panel count.

Questions to resolve when comparing home-solar configurations

System approach

Main discussion

Ask before selecting

Grid-tied

Solar generation alongside the existing electricity connection.

How will the proposed system operate with the grid, and what happens during an outage?

Hybrid

A solar, battery and grid arrangement.

Which appliances will be supported, and how will storage and backup be configured?

Off-grid

An electricity system planned without routine grid support.

How will the proposal account for the intended loads, storage and periods of low generation?

The right location matters

Look beyond
empty roof space.

A usable solar location needs sunlight, suitable space and an appropriate mounting arrangement. Roof age, shape and shading can influence the design. A ground-mounted arrangement may be worth discussing where a rooftop is unsuitable.

Photographs can help start the conversation, but they do not replace a property assessment. Include nearby trees, roof obstructions and the intended installation area rather than a single close-up of the roof surface.

Panel material and fixed or tracking arrangements are further choices discussed in the residential service. The proposal should explain which arrangement suits the home rather than treating every option as interchangeable.

Before selecting capacity

Make the proposal specific.

01

Review electricity use

Bring recent bills and describe when the home uses most electricity. Separate everyday consumption from the appliances that matter during an outage.

02

Review the property

Share the location, roof photographs and access constraints. Record any planned roof work before finalising the installation position.

03

Review the scope

Ask the quotation to distinguish panels, inverter, mounting, cabling, battery options and installation. Review any exclusions alongside the total.

Keep backup explicit. Ask which loads the proposed system can support in an outage. Do not assume that installing solar panels alone provides backup.

Your questions, answered

Home solar questions

Practical answers to help you take the next step.

How is a home solar system sized?

Sizing starts with electricity consumption, when that electricity is used and the usable sunny roof area. Battery needs are considered separately. A property-specific assessment is more useful than choosing a system only by the number of bedrooms.

Is my roof the only possible place for solar panels?

Rooftops are a common location, but the residential service also discusses ground-mounted arrangements. Roof condition, shading, space and the proposed mounting arrangement need to be considered before choosing a position.

What is the difference between solar generation and battery backup?

Solar panels generate electricity from sunlight. A battery stores electricity for later use. Backup operation also depends on the inverter and the way the system is connected; a battery is not an automatic promise of whole-home backup.

Will a standard grid-connected system work during a power cut?

A typical grid-connected installation shuts down when the grid fails. Backup requires a system designed to supply selected loads while safely separated from the grid. Discuss outage requirements before the equipment is selected.

What information should I provide for a home-solar enquiry?

Send recent electricity bills, the property location, available roof photographs and the appliances you want to prioritise. Explain whether your aim is daytime solar use, stored energy for later use or backup for selected circuits.

Can I compare grid-tied, hybrid and off-grid options?

Yes. The residential service covers these three system approaches. Ask for the proposed grid connection, battery arrangement and operating limitations to be explained for your particular home.
